button Very nice Connecticut Militia coat sized button
This button has gilt highlights, a stand up shank, and the rmdc bm is Scovill Mfg. Co Waterbury, a solid and very good button with no worries and no repairs.

button Rhode Island Kepi Button.
The button is solid and thin, with a pretty face, and intact shank and a dm back mark that is: Scovills & Co. While the face is very nice, there is quite a bit of ground action on the back side making the back mark hard to read. Dug in Richmond, Virginia.

button Massachusetts coat sized uniform Staff Officer’s button.
The button is in great dug condition with lots of brilliant gold showing, a stand up shank and a rmdc back mark that reads SUPERIOR QUALITY. This is called a three piece button and the shank is intact. A very nice and very solid button..

This button has good detail and a good amount of gilt remains. There is some damage to the rim. The back has a stand up shank with the Robinsons makers back mark.

This button was excavated in Eastern North Carolina. It has about 35% of it's gilt remaining. The shank is intact, though slightly leaning as shown in the picture. It is a good solid button.

This coat size button was excavated in Central Virginia. The front has quite a bit of gilt remaining. The shank is intact. This button is rare because it has a tin back, as shown in the picture.

This button is a one piece pewter, convex with border. It has an eagle with 13 stars semicircle above "Cordier Freres/Paris" rm. Albert's PA 48A. This information was kindly given to us by William Leigh.

This button was excavated in Charles City County, Virginia in 2013. This is a decent looking and solid little button, with a stand up shank. It displays well, but magnification will reveal quite a bit of ground action, enough to make the backmark unreadable. Still, a hard to find button.

This cuff sized excavated button is very solid. It has a stand up shank with a dm backmark that reads Superfin Paris, a not easy to find backmark. Albert's MS35,38 and Tice's Ms 210 Cs.

The front of this excavated button shows great detail, with lots of gilt remaining. It has a stand up shank, and the backmark reads D. Evans. Attleboro. Mass. dm with star. Albert's R17 and Tice's R1201A.1.

quite a bit of gilt, but does have a push on the front as shown

button New York Militia Button (coat sized).
This one piece staff officer's button was found in Chancellorsville, Virginia more that forty years ago. This pretty button is silver plated with highlights of the original copper base showing through. The backmark is Lewis & Tombes Extra and has a perfect stand up shank. This button was probably made between 1815-30, according to Warren Tice, Uniform Buttons of the United States, pg. 374.

button Massachusetts Militia Button (coat sized).
This coat sized button was dug at Chancellorsville, Virginia about thirty five years ago. It has lots of gilt, and a stand up shank. Bm (dm) is a hard to read Waterbury Button Co Extra. It shows quite a bit of ground action on the back, and there is a small piece of the rim missing as shown in the picture. Front is great! Great display button for a reasonable price.

button New York Button in a Double Matted Riker Case.
This specimen, recovered at Petersburg, Virginia displays very good detail; there is a push to the face. The stand up shank is missing and it has a Steele and Johnson backmark. The double mat has a descriptive label and a picture of the McClellan Cavalry N.Y.V.C. flag. This display really highlights the button.

Masssachusetts button Cuff-size Massachusetts Volunteer Militia button.
This piece retains most of its gilt and the stand-up
shank is present. The backmark, "Robinsons Jones & Co.,"
dates it to 1828-1834. This is a beautiful button and
its presence would enhance any collection.
