OHIO Button from a rubber poncho. Want a genuine Ohio button?
I have one! While not a uniform button, I can personally attest to the authenticity of
this piece. I dug it many years ago southeast of Petersburg, Virginia. During the time
the Interstate highway, I-295 was being built, I asked for and was granted permission
to hunt a farmer's field in that area. The field yielded my first Confederate "Script I" button,
a US saddle shield, New York buttons, Confederate "Lined I" buttons, a US box plate, two eagle
plates, many bullets, and this unique OHIO button. This was during the time Mac Mason was
still alive and he told me that he'd seen a similar dug device once before. While at the
Mansfield, Ohio Show in 2005, a gentleman came by my table and told me he'd seen the
device on a rubber poncho in at a museum in Ohio . (If anyone out there has information regarding
my button, please contact me.) At any rate, it's genuine and it's unconditionally guaranteed
for the duration of my life. The device is made to separate and snap back together, apparently
designed to fasten two sections of a rubber blanket together. On the back of the item appears
a depressed mark. Scovill mf'g co. Just like that. The word Waterbury does not appear. The
button measures a modest 13 mm in diameter and appears to have a heavy layer of black paint
applied to it. When you look at the button from the front, you will be reminded of looking at a
large grasshopper's face and head. Currently in my personal collection. I like this one a
lot and am pricing it accordingly. Maybe you like it more? Beautiful, high quality, solid walnut
display case included with the purchase.
Item BU2003 Recently Reduced to $595.00!

Second OHIO Button from a rubber poncho. Also dug near Petersburg,
Virginia, I have another poncho button for you. The device is made to separate and snap back together, apparently
designed to fasten two sections of a rubber blanket together. On the back of the item appears
a depressed mark. Scovill mf'g co. I have not cleaned it and feel it will show a lot better if the
buyer will do so. 13 mm in diameter, it is just like the previous button and comes in a 3x4 Sgt.
Riker Display Case.
Item BU2004 $595.00
(This is the second poncho button. Look at the item directly above, if you haven't already done so
